PANJIM: C Dayal and Dr Shyam Lawande emerged champions in 50th bridge tournament of Maritime Day Sports Extravaganza organized by Mormugoa Port Trust at MPT Guest House at Sada, Vasco.
The match point pairs event witnessed 20 players from Goa and South Maharashtra battle it out over 45 duplicate boards. At lunchtime, ventual winners Dayal and Lawande from Vasco were tied with Deone Menezes and Dinky Fialho at 61 match points apiece.
By the end of play, Finton Lewis and Prasad Keni of Panjim had a late rally to finish second and Ravi Dudhane playing with Suresh Shirwaikar also made it to the podium. Awards for the event will be given at a ceremony at Naval Auditorium in late April.
