CCP polls: Court disposes plea

The petition filed by 16 corporators over postponement of Corporation of the City of Panaji Mayoral elections was Tuesday disposed of by the High Court of Bombay at Goa after Commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues gave an assurance that he would issue notices for the meeting to be held on April 4.

PANJIM: The petition filed by 16 corporators over postponement of Corporation of the City of Panaji Mayoral elections was Tuesday disposed of by the High Court of Bombay at Goa after Commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues gave an assurance that he would issue notices for the meeting to be held on April 4. 

On Monday, the Court had turned down the plea of the corporators for an ad-interim relief to restrain the powers of the sitting CCP Mayor and Deputy Mayor and quashing of the order postponing the CCP election by the Commissioner on the directions of the government, vide a letter issued by the Director of Municipal Administration.
