BENAULIM: Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda rallied from behind to oust St Cruz Club Cavelossim 4-2 via the tie-breaker to enter into the quarter-finals of the 13th Bebe Costa memorial inter-village football tournament organised by United Club of Benaulim, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Thursday.
Cavelossim were the better side and made the perfect start to surge ahead in the 7th minute when medio Alex Rodrigues squeezed the ball to Eltrin Viegas inside the box and the striker did well to go past rival defenders John Colaco and Velito Miranda and shot past Fatorda goalkeeper Charmino Vaz.
Fatorda came with renewed ideas after the breather and overlapping defender Roque Borges was denied by Cavelossim Goalkeeper Viraj Luis with a beautiful save.
Fatorda were very oppressive and their persistent efforts were rewarded when in the 56th minute as substitute Jesmon Soares floated in a long ball inside the area where lanky Roque Borges rose high to head in strongly past Viraj to restore parity.
In the ensuing tie-breaker Fatorda were successful through Roger Azavedo, Roque Borges and Velito Miranda while Eltrin Viegas was the lone scorer for Cavelossim as the efforts of Rohan Muller Alez Rodrigues and Francisco Carvalho were brilliantly stopped by keeper Charmino.
