DBO Fatorda win five-goal thriller against St Anthony SC, enter semis

BENAULIM: Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda got the better of St Anthony SC, Assolda 3-2 to enter the semi-finals of the 28th Super Soccer, organised by United Boys of Dando-Colva and played at the Dando ground, Benaulim, on Friday.

St Anthony SC attacked from the word go through Kevin Vaz but the lad failed to tap the ball received from Rosario Fernandes in the second minute.
Joseph Fernandes of Assolda took control of the ball from Benson Fernandes dribbled Alfred Noronha and Valito Miranda –both defenders of Don Bosco –and chipped the ball inside Don Bosco nets  to open the account in the third minute.
Don Bosco had their say in the 6th minute with Cliff Barreto connecting a well measured pass to Necil Pinto but the latter was squarely blocked by the rival defence at the top of the Assolda box.
Fhezer Gomes of Assoloda almost scored the second goal from the DBO six-yard box but Alfred Noronha of Don Bosco intentionally brought down Fhezer and the match referee awarded a penalty kick to Assoloda.
Kevin Vaz coolly converted the spot kick in the 15th minute.
In the 46th minute, a through pass by Francis Andrade to Melvin Furtado made it 1-2.
In the next minute, Francis Andrade provided the second assists to Jesmon Soares in the 47th minute to level terms and finally Francis Andrade made it 3-2 for Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda in the 60th minute.
