NAVELIM: Dempo Sports Club blanked Curtorim Gymkhana 3-0 in the GFA Goa Pro League match at Rosary ground, Navelim on Thursday. Dempo SC were leading 1-0 during lemon time. In a combined move, Joy Ferrao and Kapil Hoble squandered an early opportunity in the 4th minute as Curtorim Gymkhana defender Minesh Kunkolar cleared the ball to safety.
Again Dempo SC through Sahil Tavora slammed a long ranger which was blocked by Roshwyn Monteiro of Curtorim Gymkhana.
Curtorim Gymkhana missed their opportunity when Minesh Kunkolikar’s tackle was thwarted by Chika Wali of Dempo SC in the 23rd minute.
Dempo SC scored the lead in the 29th minute when Vineet Budge supplied a short ball to Sahil Tavora, who in turn dribbled past couple of Curtorim Gymkhana defenders to net home.
Dempo SC in the 41st minute could have found the ball at the back of net but Chika’s floater was fisted away by the Curtorim Gymkhana goalkeeper.
With change of sides, Dempo SC firing squad Kapil Hoble and Ali Mohammad made some attacking moves and rattled the Curtorim Gymkhana defence. The team made inroad in the 64th minute through Kapil Hoble after being set up by Nickson Castana to double the lead.
Curtorim Gymkhana in the 68th had a chance to reduce the margin but Donald Rocha’s shot ballooned over the cross piece of Dempo SC off a connect by Inamsab.
Thereafter, Dempo SC upped their pace and netted the third goal in the 80th minute off a corner kick. Ali Mohammad after receiving the ball from substitute Hayden Fernandes overpowered Curtorim Gymkhana’s Arjones Amor to coolly send the ball into the rival nets.
