MAPUSA: Dempo Sports Club registered a well-deserved 2-0 win over Clube de Salgaocar to maintain the top spot of the Reliance Foundation Development League U-21 played at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.
Unbeaten Dempo SC playing their fifth match have 15 points with Sesa FA and FC Goa on 10 points. All three teams qualified for the quarter-finals. Both the goals for Dempo SC came in the first session of play through Topan Singh in the 34th minute and Jodric Abranches in the 46th minute.
In the 77th minute, Murphy Fernandes was sent off for second caution.
In another match, Sporting Clube de Goa managed to edge past Churchill Brothers FC by 2-1 margin.
Sporting Clube scored two late goals in each session of play through Walden Menezes in the 46th minute and Royce Gonsalves in the 93rd minute.
For Churchill Brothers, Janggunhao Khongsai opened their account in the 41st minute of play.
At Guirim ground, FC Goa came from two goals down to hold Sesa FA to 2-2 draw.
Sesa FA scored both the goals in the first session of play. Saish Gaunkar scored from the penalty spot in the 16th minute with Ashwek Jadhav adding his team’s second goal in the 46th minute, 2-0.
Young Gaurs came with renewed ideas and not only pulled a goal through Shaikh Ismail in the 54th minute but saw Prachit Gaonkar level terms in the 82nd minute from the penalty spot, 2-2.
