MAPUSA: Dempo SC came strongly to trounce Guardian Angel SC by 5-0 margin in the Goa Professional League played at Duler stadium, on Wednesday.
Both the teams having lost their last league match started aggressively and saw the Curchorem side dominated the first fifteen minutes of the match.
In the very seventh minute, Jesloy Moniz darted inside the penalty box and drilled a hot blooded shot from close which was brilliantly blocked for a corner by Dempo keeper Wellyster Mendes.
Another shot at the first post by striker Saivish Singh was blocked for a corner by the keeper.
Minutes later, a scorching right footer from outside the penalty box by U20 Valerian Hilario travelled past Dempo’s goal post.
Golden Eagles regrouped themselves and came strongly into the match.
In the 18th minute, Angel’s custodian Oswin Rodrigues who stretched his leg to deny Suraj Hadkonkar from taking the lead in one to one situation.
However in the 31st minute the keeper could do very little to stop skipper Pedro Gonsalves header off a corner by Suraj entering the goal 1-0.
Dempo almost doubled the lead in the very next minute but Angel’s defender Fulganco Cardozo cleared the ball entering the goal from Laximanrao Rane’s header.
Dempo made it 2-0 in the 36th minute when Suraj Hadkonkar snatched the ball off the defender and placed it past the onrushing Angel’s keeper 2-0.
On crossing ends Golden Eagles carried on their onslaught and had two chances to further increase their lead.
Laximanrao Rane’s placement missed the target narrowly while Pedro Gonsalves stiff grounder was blocked for a corner by keeper Oswin Rodrigues.
Suddenly Angel’s defense could not restrain the pressure exerted by the Golden Eagles colts and conceded three quick goals through U20 Sairon Albuquerque header off a corner and U20 Necio Fernandes and Suraj Hadkonkar placement 5-0.
Pedro Gonsalves of Dempo’s received the man of the match award from Dr. Caitan Fernandes-President of GFA.
At Nagoa ground, Sesa FA and Churchill Brothers shared points in four-goal thriller.
It was Churchill Bros, who scored the first through Shubert Pereira, who scored from the spot.
However, Sesa FA restored parity through Beckham Sing, who scored with a fine freekick giving no chance for the rival keeper.
Churchill Brothers regained their lead and netted through George D’souza just before the breather.
In the second half, Sesa coach introduced Clencio Pinto, who made an immediate impact in the game. He nearly got two assists but both his efforts were missed by Daniel and Kunal.
However, Clencio managed to get his name on the score sheet when Domnic Soares fed in a good through ball and the striker broke the rival last line and scored past the keeper to make it 2-2.
