MAPUSA: Dempo Sports Club riding on Joaquim Abranches’ brace scored a well deserved 3-0 win over holders Sporting Clube de Goa, in the Goa Professional League match organised by GFA, at Duler stadium, here on Saturday.
The match which was evenly contested was decided by the clinical finishing of Dempo strikers in the second half wherein Joaquim Abranches scored a brace and Beevan D`Mello contributed for the other goal to help their team register their second consecutive win in the GPL campaign.
In the 18th minute, Dempo’s Jessel Carneiro’s long floater in the danger box found Joaquim Abranches whose well struck shot was smartly stopped by the Sporting keeper Melroy Fernandes.

Sporting skipper Victorino Fernandes had two quick chances of giving his team the lead but was denied by the sharpness of the recalled Dempo keeper Tyson Caiado who first confidently gathered a long range shot in the 39th minute and then minutes later left his rearguard in the nick of time before the latter could smash the ball into the nets.
Dempo scored two goal in quick succession on changing ends the first coming through Joaquim Abranches who rose high over the defenders to head the ball into the nets of a lovely cross by teammate Jessel to give his side the lead.
