AMBELIM: Dempo SC defeated SCC Cavelossim 2-0 in the Goa Professional League match, at Ambelim ground, on Saturday.
A brace by midfielder Kapil Heble helped Dempo SC grab all the three points.
The team from the north played an excellent game with Kapil Heble and Felix Odili Chidi.
However Gammy Costa tried his level best to curb down Dempo SC’s strikes as he made some beautiful moves upfront and threatened the Dempo SC defence but failed to convert.
In the first five minutes of play both the teams displayed attacking play however Felix Odil Chidi for Dempo and Gammy Costa for Cavelossim missed sitters.
Felix dogged past Cavelossim Defenders and made a goalbound strike in 2nd minute of the match which was saved by Keeper Agnelo Gomes of SCC Cavelossim.
On the other end Gammy Costa took control of the ball and made a strike towards the goal ehich was saved by goalkeeper Priyant Kumar Singh Dempo SC in the 4th minute.
Aaren D’Silva of SCC Cavelossim should have found the ball at the back of Dempo SC nets however it was Meldon D’Silva who came to his sides rescue with a timely tackle on the rival striker in the 18th minute.
The breakthrough finally came in the 29th minute when Bevan D’mello sent a well measure cross to winger Kapil Heble who beat Agnelo and calmly placed it into SCC Cavelossim nets.
There after SCC Cavelossim tried to equalise but Dempo SC did a good job to keep Cavelossim strikers away from their citadel.
With Cavelossim trying to find an equaliser, Dempo SC took advantage of the situation and countered the rival team managing to double their lead in the 63rd minute.
Bevan D’Mello rushed again with the ball and sent in the ball to Kapil Heble
who made no mistake to tap the ball in.
Later Dempo’s Nigerian striker Felix who was brilliant throughout the game should have scored in the 85th minute but shot wide.
SCC Cavelossim couldn’t get back into the match as Dempo SC went on a rampage while the former team could do nothing but defend and prevent Dempo SC from further inflating the lead.
