PANJIM: Dempo Sports Club defeated Candolim Sports Club 2-0 in the Goa Football Association’s U-16 League match played at, Candolim ground, on Sunday.
At half-time, the score was 0-0. Post resumption, the young Golden Eagles came back stronger and managed to take the lead in the 77th minute after Fedrick Fernandes dribbled past a couple a defenders before he shot the ball past the keeper.
While the Candolim side were still recovering from the shock, Fedrick went on to double the lead 2-0 in the 79th minute of the match.
At full-time the scores read 2-0 in favour of Dempo SC.
In another match at Parra ground, FC Goa thumped PVC Parra 4-2.
FC Goa shot into the lead in the 24th minute through Valentino Carvalho. The score at the end of first half read 1-0.
Post resumption, the young Gaurs came back stronger and scored two more goal theough Asfin Pinto in the 57th minute and Tristan Fernandes in the 59th minute.
However PVC Parra managed to pull a goal back in the 66th minute as Shaheel Shaikh made it 3-1.
Just as they thought they could get back into the game Asfin Pinto scored in the 66th minute to claim all three points for FC Goa, before Shaheel Shaikh scored a consolation goal for the rivals in the injury time.
