PANJIM: Dempo Sports Club celebrated the AFC Grassroots Day in association with Bethany Convent High School and Salcete FC, at the Bethany Convent High School ground, at Sao Jose de Areal, recently.
Altogether, 130 children participated, including girls in the one-day festival in series of activity grids, work stations comprising of multiple fun games and small-sided games.
The event led by Dempo Sports Club’s Youth Development Technical Director Katz Naidoo saw the children between the age group of 7 and 14 years play and enjoy “The Beautiful Game” with fun and entertainment.
“The festival was an exciting event for all the participants with various activities,” said Katz.
“The related workshops and game stations that were planned in the activities were all fun and ball oriented. For what I have seen, their glee was the message of enjoyment,” he said.
“I was impressed with the performances of the U-10 and the girls, which reflected freedom of expression that allowed them space to play and have fun,” he added.
The activity offered the Sao Jose de Areal village children to interact with Katz and other coaches and learn some basics of football.
Bethany Convent HS PE teacher Vaibhav Raut said, “The festival was brilliantly conducted by the Dempo SC and the kids enjoyed it a lot.”
Benthany Convent Headmistress Sr. P. Pinto thanked Dempo SC for conducting such activities for their school children and added that they are looking forward for more of such events in near future.
Salcete FC official Agnel Fernandes was also present.
