Margao: Dempo Sports Club  drubbed Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 2-0 at DSYA ground, Curtorim, Wednesday. Dempo led 1-0 at half time.

Dempo played with purpose and were the more aggressive of the two sides. Striker Myron Fernandes was the fulcrum in the Dempo attacks and gave his team the lead when beat Cavelossim goalkeeper Shelton Fernandes with a stiff grounder in the 32nd minute.

Cavelossim had a golden chance to neutralize the lead but Floyd Faernandes shot wide from close range. In the 75th minute Dempo suffered a setback when their coach Mathew D’Costa was ordered to leave the bench for using abusive language against referee Seby Moraes.

Dempo doubled their lead in the injury time when Clenecio Pinto beat the rival goalkeeper off a cross from Chetan Naik.

Meanwhile, Dempo coach Mathew D’Costa felt that referee Seby Moraes unnecessarily awarded yellow cards to his boys. In any case, knowing that the referee is always right he had no business whatsoever in using foul language which is unbecoming of a coach, who is like a teacher, and should be a role model for the players.
