Dramapur Sports Club beat Carmona Sports Club 4-1via the tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of 5th Benaulim Super Soccer inter-village tournament for Alvernaz and Lalush Alemao Memorial Cup organized by United Club of Benaulim at St John Baptist ground, Dando, Benaulim on Thursday. The teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation period.
Carmona Sports Club nearly scored midway through the opening session but striker Alex Rodrigues’ snap shot from handshaking distance went wide.
Dramapur Sports Club took the fight to the other end but their forwards messed up after reaching the rival danger zone.
Dramapur Sports Club nearly broke the deadlock soon after resumption but striker Jorex Fernandes ballooned over from close range with only the Carmona Sports Club goalkeeper at his mercy. Later, Piedade Rebello blasted wide after being fed by Domingo Rebello inside the rival penalty box.
In the ensuing penalty shoot-out, Noel Leitao, Dickson Costa, Jorax Fernandes and Domingo Rebello were on target for the winners while Ellie D’Costa scored for Carmona Sports Club .
