CALANGUTE: Dunes Sports Club grounded Merces Sports Club 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the 17th Vagator All-Goa inter-village football tournament organized by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Ozrant ground, Vagator, on Thursday.
After failing to score at half time, Dunes SC took the lead in the 47th minute as Glenson Britto made the best of Vivek Naik’ pass, placing the ball to the far corner of the net.
Down by a goal, Merces SC went all out and came close to levelling terms but Cedric Pexeito’s free-kick hit the crossbar.
Salvador put the issue beyond doubt for Dunes SC with a goal in the 60th minute off an assist by Sylvester Dias.
