DABOLIM: FC Goa team arrived in State on Monday evening after being held to a goalless draw in the first leg of semi-final against Atletico de Kolkata on Sunday evening.
Speaking to Herald upon arrival at Dabolim airport, fans favourite Romeo Fernandes said, “we defended the away match well, tried to score but in vain and the injury of Narayan Das, which was a loss to the team.”
“We played well though, we didn’t convert. Overall it was a fair result on a difficult pitch and away fixture in front of energetic supporters.”
Romeo further informed, “we are waiting for the second leg and will give our best in the 90 minutes to secure victory and the best goal result for the fans.”
When asked about his recognition in ISL and brilliant performance for FC Goa, the Assolna based lad added, “It feels great to be recognised and I will continue to give my best and not to let down the expectations.”
On playing in front of home crowd, Romeo instantly replied, “the crowd has been amazing at the stadium and feels great to play in front of such fans, who never lost hope on the team.”
With the tickets already being sold out within the two hours on the first day of sale itself, Romeo and his team is already assured of the support they are waiting for and FC Goa just have to secure a win in the return fixture to take the team in the final of first edition of Hero Indian Super League.
According to the sources, the injury status of Narayan Das is not know yet and will be declared after medical examination.
