NUVEM: Fatorda Veterans downed Calangute Veterans 2-0 to march into the semi-finals of 1st all-Goa inter-village veteran football tournament organised by Marc Caterers, Nuvem, at Nuvem Church ground, on Friday.
In the first half, John Araujo scored the first goal for Fatorda Veterans. After few minutes again, Fatorda Veterans doubled the lead through Fr Mario. Thereafter, down with two goals, Calangute Veterans upped their tempo and started attacking their rival citadel to find the much-needed equaliser but the efforts of Nelson Fernandes, Alwyn Fernandes and Alex Dias did not bear fruits.
Fatorda Veterans will now meet Eilhas (Panjim) Veterans in the second semi-final on Saturday. The winners will meet to Nuvem Veterans in the final slated on Sunday, October 5.
