Fatorda Veterans clinch Mae Dos Pobres Cup

PANJIM: Fatorda Veterans clinched the 1st all Goa Mae Dos Pobres Football Cup, organised by Pele Veterans Nuvem defeating Sai Veterans 2-1at Nuvem Church ground, recently. 

The teams played an excellent brand of football creating scoring chances but neither side were able to break the deadlock as the teams were goalless at the breather.

In the second half, Fatorda came with renewed ideas and were successful in taking the lead in the 38th minute through John Araujo. Agnelo Colaco initiated the move playing Camilo through on goal who set up John to score the team’s first goal.

Minutes later, Fatorda doubled the lead through Minguel who scored with a simple tap after the rival custodian failed to collect Jerson Cardozo’s shot.

Sai Veterans scored a late consolation through Govind Balekar.

Superintendent of Police Sammy Tavares was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of club officials.

Following were the awards: First scorer of the final: John Araujo (Fatorda), Best goalkeeper: Salim Bepari (Fatorda), Best forward: Jerson Cardoz (Fatorda), Best midfielder: Eddie (Sai Veterans), Best defender: Govind Balekar (Sai veterans).
