Fatorda Veterans march into final

VERNA: Fatorda Veterans downed Mitra Veterans 4-0 to reach the final of first All-Goa 8-a-side veterans football tournament organised by former footballers of Verna at Verna panchayat ground, on Monday.
Fatorda Veterans made their early breakthrough by scoring the first goal through the boots of striker Francis Andrade, followed by another goal through the efforts of Vincent Barbosa.
At half time, the score was 2-0 in favour of Fatorda Veterans.
In the second half, Fatorda Veterans kept the pressure on the Mitra Veterans defence and scored two quick goals through their striker Johh Araujo thus sealing the victory for Fatorda Veterans.

Mixed Friends pip
Menezes Veterans got the better of Mixed Friends Veterans 1-0 to enter into the quarter-finals of Assolda Veterans football tournament at Kamsai Moll ground, Assolda, on Monday.
The match started on a slow pace and both teams tried to take control of the game and Mix Friends Veterans were the first to missed the scoring opportunity when Remy Colaco’s shot hit the crossbar and went out of play, while Uday Naik of Menezes Veterans’ shot from the box was punch away for a corner by Mixed Friends Veterans goalkeeper.
Before the half time, Peter Fernandes of Menezes Veterans scored the all-important goal by tapping the ball over the goalkeeper’s head and remained 1-0 lead at lemon break.
In the second session of play, Marcus Carvalho of Menezes Veterans’ header missed the target by whiskers, while Peter Fernandes missed the chance to increase the tally before the final whistle.
