MANDOPA: FC Dicarpali defeated Aquem Baixo Boys by 2-0 to clinch Gantamorod Cup of the 1st All-Navelim inter-ward football tournament organized by Youth of Gantamorod, at Mandopa ground, on Sunday.
Perryson Rebello of FC Dicarpali was the hero of the match as he scored two goals in the 8th and 40th minute of play
FC Dicarpali got various scoring chances in the first half, in the 5th minute of play a well combine move by Agnelo Colaco and Perryson Rebello could have been a goal for the team, but to their dismay the latter shot wide.
Thereafter Aquem Boys tried a shot in the 6th minute when Selwin Miranda took a beautiful grounder shot whose shot was collected by the FC Dicarpali goalkeeper Ashikesh Ritesh.
The deadlock for FC Dicarpali was broken in the 8th minute of play when a well planned move by Perryson Rebello and Agnelo Colaco paid as Agnelo sent a shot pass to Perryson Rebello who shot the ball into the far off corner to take1-0 lead.
After the lemon break both the teams began afresh and created chances in the rival citadel.
FC Dicarpali doubled the lead in the 48th minute through Perryson Rebello of Vellington’s supply.
Later, prizes to the individuals and teams were awarded; First scorer of final was awarded to Perryson Rebello (FC Dicarpali), Best player of the final Vellington Rocha (FC Dicarpali), Best defender Pascoal Borges (Aquem Baixo), Best goalkeeper Selito Miranda (Aquem Baixo), Best performance in the tournament SelwinGomes (Gantamorod Youth) and Best forward Mark Borges (SC Davorlim).
Minister for Fisheries Avertano Furtado was the chief guest and handed over the trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 25,000 to the winners, while the guest of honour zilla panchayat member Davorlim Ulhas Tuenkar, handed the runners-up trophy and cash prize of Rs 15,000. Ex Salgaocar player Casper Crasto was the special invitee, other dignitaries and club officials to were present.
President of the club Selwino Periera welcomed and compered the function while Timotio proposed vote of thanks.
