Despite the rain, Duler Stadium in Mapusa saw the highest turnout with 87 kids taking part in the festival under the watchful eye of FC Goa Grassroots Development Director, Gavin Araujo.
The AFC Grassroots Day which saw participation from a record 38 Member Associations this year had the AIFF leading the charge with close to 40,000 participants on the day across the nation.
Speaking after the festival, Araujo said: “AFC Grassroots Day is a fine way to initiate widespread involvement in football. By coming together on a platform and through sustained activity, I’m sure we can increase the popularity of the game and have kids playing more often and take an active interest in the game.”
