Fr Agnel Ashram, Mount Mary’s HS register wins

SERAULIM: Fr Agnel Ashram, Verna, proved better shooters in the tie-breaker and won 4-2 to enter the final of the Sir Jawaharlal Da Costa U-14 inter-school football tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim in collaboration with The Base Goa, at the Base, Seraulim.

During the regular time both teams were level 1-1. Loyola scored through Mitson Barbosa and Fr Agnel Ashram equalised through Ismail Nayak just minutes before the final whistle.

In the tie-breaker, Fr Agnel Ashram scored through Ismail Nayak, Snedon Vaz and Jaden Pinto. Loyola scored through Evan Ferrao. Reuben Barbosa’s penalty was saved by Fr Agnel’s Goal Keeper Rhyce Barreto.

In the other match, Mount Mary’s HS, Chinchinim went down fighting with Perpetual Succour HS, Navelim 2-0. Perpetual Succour scored through Mohammed Taufiq and Emanuel Gama.

In the girls’ matches, Manovikas Vikas H.S Margao scored a narrow win over Vidya Vikas Margao 1-0.

The all important goal came through the boots of Valusha Gonsalves.

Fatima Convent HS, Margao outplayed Perpetual Succor HS, Navelim 5-2. Fatima Scored through Dezma D’Costa and Shalika Rodrigues’ braces two while Joleen Fernandes netted one. Perpetual Convent pulled back through Clea Colaco and Vania Godinho scoring a goal each.
