MARGAO: Fr Agnel Youth Sports Club, Paroda shocked Curtorim Gymkhana 4-3 via tie-breaker to cruise into the semi-finals of All Goa Cana Benaulim Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Dando Boys Club of Benaulim, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim on Wednesday.
The teams were locked in a goalless draw at the end of regulation period.
Initially, the game was limited to the midfield with neither side offering much attacking moves.
As the match progressed, both the teams showed urgency but failed to penetrate each others defence.
The second session didn’t see much of an improvement in the intensity of the game as the action was largely concentrated in the midfield but Fr Agnel looked dangerous.
Both the sides showed a lot of urgency in the final moments of the game in order to nick a win during the normal period.
In the penalty shoot out, Anthony Dias, Kanchan Khiro, Godfrey Fernandes and Edwin D’Costa found the mark for Fr Agnel Youth Sports Club while Joaquim Carvalho, Neville Fernandes and Nelson Fernandes converted for Curtorim Gymkhana.
