CHANDOR: Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda came from behind to win 3-1 against Gloria Sports Club, Raia to advance to the semi-final of the 14th All Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup, at Chandor church ground, on Sunday.
Gloria SC started on a positive note and were rewarded in the 5th minute when a blunder from the Paroda keeper allowed Oilex Oliveira to score and put Raia in the lead. Being a goal down seemed to get the best out of Paroda as they upped their ante and were on level terms in the 14th minute when Raston Costa’s rasping drive beat the Raia keeper hands down. Both teams were tied 1-1 at the break. Post resumption, Paroda captain Manesh Oliveira doubled their lead in the 37th minute when he leaped high above the Raia defence and headed the ball in. Jaiso Dias then hammered the final nail in Raia’s coffin with a solo goal in the 43rd minute to give Paroda a comfortable 3-1 victory. Paroda will now face Tilamola United SC in the semi-final on November 5.
