VAGATOR: Friends XI Vaddem squeezed past Dunes SC by a narrow 1-0 win to advance into the semi-finals of the 18th Vagator Soccer Cup, organized by Vagator PYSC, at Ozran ground, here on Friday.
Both the goals were scored in the second session of play.
In a well contested encounter it was Dunes who had the first clear look at the rival goal when in the 20th minute Vivek set the ball to unmarked Silvester dias inside the danger zone, but Vaddem’s devendra Kautankar came with a timely clearance to avert the danger.
On changing ends, it was Vaddem who called most of the shots, where in the 46th minute Denzil Sequeira sent a lovely through pass to Dwayne Ticlo who to the dismay of his teammates, faltered from close range.
Minutes later, the constant probing by Vaddem finally paid off, where Denzil this time relayed the ball towards Aman Kinlekar whose half volley crashed into the Dunes nets, 1-0.
