VAGATOR: Friends XI, Succoro booked their place in the final of 18th Vagator Soccer Cup registering a hard fought 3-2 win over Alberto Developers CDJ Ribandar organized by Vagator PYSC at Ozran ground, on Monday.
It was the winners who called most of the shots in the first session, wherein in the 3rd minute itself Denzil Sequeira’s powerful header missed the CDJ Ribandar goal by a whisker.
Minutes later, Edberg Sequeira broke the deadlock for Friends XI when his long range strike caught the CDJ Ribandar keeper on the wrong foot before crashing into the nets, 1-0.
Before the lemon break, Friends XI inflated their lead when Devendra Kautankar scored from the penalty spot in the 31st minute, after Ramesh Palkar was found guilty by the referee for rough play.
Changing over, Dwayne Ticlo took Friends up 3-0 in the 49th minute when he gave finishing touch to Denzil’s pass.
The CDJ Ribandar colts finally got their acts together and managed to reduce the margin in the 52nd minute when Salu Santos slotted home the ball from close range, 3-1. Within a span of a few minutes, CDJ Ribandar netted in another goal through the boots of Krishna Shirodkar, 3-2.
Vaddem will now meet Saligao Sporting in the final on August 7.
