Raia Sporting Club thump Mormugao SC
NAGOA-VERNA: Raia Sporting Club blanked Mormugao SC 5-0 to move into the final of the Nagoa Village Panchyat Cup organised by Pax of Nagoa SC,at Nagoa panchayat ground, on Saturday.
The match kicked off on a brisk note as in the fourth minute Raia’s Sockey Cardozo fumbled with ball to score from close range. In very next minute Lloyd Cardozo gave Raia the lead off a placement shot. Later in the 13th minute, Raia’s Eldon Colaco made a solo move as he dribble past couple of Mormugao defenders and gave neat pass to Lloyd Cardozo who made no mistake in hitting the net to double the account for Raia.
Later Lloyd Cardozo completed his hat-trick from a 25 yard shot to make it 3-0 in the 29th minute.
At half-time the score was 3-0 in favour of Raia Sporting Club.
After the change of ends, Raia Sporting mounted the pressure on Mormugao sports Club.
In the 41st minute a well calculated shot by Mormugao’s Stallin Lucas hit the upright of Raia and the ball rebound back into play.
In the 45th minute Lloyd Cardozo made it 4-0. In the 54rd minute, Raia increased the tally to make it 5-0 through Eldon Colaco. Raia Sporting Club will now meet the winners of Ambelim Sports Club and Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda in the final on May 5 .
United Club of Nerul win shoot-out
KAKODA-CURCHOREM: United Club of Nerul shot-out PAX of Nagoa-Verna 6-5 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the Holy Cross Cup, in memory of Albert J Fernandes organised by Holy Cross Sports Club, Kakoda Vodlemoll, at Kakoda ground, on Saturday.
In the resultant tie-breaker United Club of Nerul netted through Yashwant, Nehal, Stanly, Dwanyan, Jose and Anthony while Myron, Josley, Joy, Noel and Remedious scored for Pax of Nagoa.
Betalbatim SC move into quarter-finals
ARLEM-RAIA: Betalbatim SC ousted CAC Cansaulim 6-5 via the tie-breaker and moved into the quarter-finals of the 31st Arlem Youth association trophy, at Raia Panchyat ground, on Saturday.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Betalbatim SC netted through Jesus Fernandes, Clifford Miranda, Dilymus, Dylan, Ronaldo and Klusner while Prasad Bagli, Roshwell Figuerido, Aaron Fernandes, Chadwick Furtado and Veeron Ferrao scored for CAC Cansaulim.
Aquem Baixo YC Club in last eight
MAINA: Aquem Baixo YC Club got the better of Chandrawaddo Boys, Fatorda 9-8 via-the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of the the13th all Goa open football tournament organised by Rebello Pandel Maina, at St Rita church ground, Maina, on Saturday.
Mobor Veterans register solitary goal win
CAVELOSSIM: Mobor Veterans registered a solitary goal win over Rachol Veterans to move into semi-finals of the 1st all Goa late Joseph Alves Veterans soccer organised by Cavelossim Villagers forum, at Father Drustian Wellington ground, Cavelossim, on Saturday.
Pele Fernandes scored the match-winner for Mobor in the 59th minute.
Jesus Nazareth, Cutobona prevail
AMBELIM: Jesus Nazareth, Cutobona edged past Fondop, Velim 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the AVCC Champion trophy football tournament organised by Hard Rock Boys, Banda-Ambelim, at Ambelim Sports Complex, on Saturday.
In another match, Sarzora blanked FC Brothers 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals.
St Rock YC blank St Sebastian Union
SERAULIM: St Rock YC, Calata-Majorda blanked St Sebastian Union, Benaulim 2-0 to move into the semi-finals of the Seraulim Panchayat Cup, at Seraulim ground, on Saturday.
St.Rock Youth Club, Calata-Majorda netted a brace through Russel Monteiro in the 18th and 56th minutes. Benaulim tried to score but the defenders of St Rock guarded their fort and prevented Benaulim strikers from scoring any goals till the end of the match.
St Rock YC, Calata-Majorda will meet the winners of CAC Cansaulim and Varca in the semi-final on May 1.
