Gauravaddo prevailed over Naikavaddo 2-1 to move into the finals of Calangute Panchayat Cup inter-ward football tournament organised by Calangute Association at Poriat ground, Calangute on Wednesday.
In a keenly contested match, Naikavaddo dominated the initial proceedings and could have taken an early lead but Rolex failed to beat the Gauravaddo keeper in a one-to-one situation off a good move by Cliff Fernandes.
Naikavaddo took the lead in the 10th minute through Seby Fernandes off a well executed move from the left flank. Down by a goal, Gauravaddo kept attacking the Naikavaddo defense and a silly mistake by the defender forced the referee to point at the dreaded spot. Rajkumar made no mistake to place the ball into the nylons beating the keeper.
Changing over on level terms, the teams tried to outdo the other but their forwards missed a couple of scoring opportunities. With time running out, Gauravaddo scored the match winner through Prashant Matkar.
