GFA elections under new Statutes

The elections to the Executive Committee of Goa Football Association scheduled for October 24 are governed by the Statutes of the association as amended and passed at its extraordinary general body meeting held on July 18, stated Tonito Botelho, GFA spokesman.
Botelho stated that under Artticle 54, the amended Statutes came into effect immediately after the close of the EGM.
By unanimous decision of the AGM also on July 18, the previously-elected executive committee of GFA was asked to continue functioning with its previous duties, rights and powers intact during the transitory period from until such time as a new executive committee to be elected on October 24 assumes office.
The powers as vested on the president, secretary and treasurer of the previously-elected executive committee continue undiminished until the new president to be elected on October 24 assumes office, on which date the posts of honorary secretary and treasurer shall also cease to exist, Tonito added.
The additional powers conferred upon the president of the executive committee of GFA by the amended Statutes, as well as those of the Executive Committee and the Emergency Committee are defined under Articles 25, 26 and 27 – to call and compile the agenda for Executive Committee meetings, to be the legal representative of GFA, to be responsible for implementing the decisions of the General Body, Executive Committee and Emergency Committee, to supervise the work of the General Secretariat, to propose the appointment or dismissal of the General Secretary and to preside over the meetings of both the General Body and the Executive Committee as well as any sub-Committee of which he may be chairman, pointed out Tonito.
Tonito also clarified that the spokesperson of the GFA is only empowered to answer questions of members of the media.
