“Player recognition will also take centerstage this season. In a first for the GPL, a cash prize of Rs 2,500 will be awarded to the ‘Player of the Match’ for each game, recognising outstanding performances on the field. To raise the stakes and motivation, the prize money for the GPL has been significantly increased. The winners of the league will receive Rs 6 lakh while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 4 lakh in prize money,” added Fernandes.
