GFA gear up for October 30 elections

PANJIM: It’s all systems go for the elections to the Executive Committee of the Goa Football Association (GFA) that will be held here on Sunday, October 30.

The polls will be conducted under the chairmanship of Adv. Pramod Kamat, Retired District and Additional Sessions Judge and former Law Secretary of the State of Goa and presently member of the Goa Human Rights Commission.

Nominations can be filed from September 21-29 and the date for scrutiny has been fixed for September 30. 

On October 7, the names of nominations received, accepted and rejected will be displayed on the GFA notice board. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations by October 14.  The final list will be sent to all candidates and all active clubs by October 17.      

Nomination forms and the list of active clubs eligible to vote may be collected from the GFA Secretariat. 

Active members who are eligible to vote may depute one of the following members to represent the member and vote: i) President ii) Secretary iii) Office Bearer under Art. 2.22 of the GFA Statutes. The name of the representative shall be notified to the Returning Officer by October 10,  2022, by 12.00 pm along with the resolution of the Managing/Executive Committee of the active club appointing the delegate.

Meanwhile, it is learned, Savio Alemao, son of former GFA President Churchill Alemao, is likely to contest for the post of President of GFA. He will be the third candidate to throw his hat in the ring. The two other candidates are Caitanno Fernaandes President FC Tuem and Welvin Menezes, President Goa Velha.
