PANJIM: Seven football clubs affiliated with Goa Football Association (GFA), Goa’s lone woman football referee accredited by FIFA and seven sports scribes will be felicitated on the occasion of 59th Anniversary of GFA Foundation on December 22, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
The clubs are Sao Jose de Areal, Navelim Sporting Club, Baina Sports Club, Cana Benaulim Sporting Association, CRC Chinchinim, Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim, Raia Sporting Club.
They are being felicitated for having organised inter-village football tournaments successfully for more than 35 years.
The lone Goa woman referee Maria Rebello will also be felicitated for being Goa’s first and only woman referee and the first Goan woman referee to be accredited by FIFA.
Seven sports scribes will also be felicitated for having covered football events for more than 25 years. They are Charles de Souza, Minoo Fernandes, Manguesh Borkar, Sandeep Redkar, Simon Alphonso, Kishore Petkar and Inacio Noronha.
An exhibition woman’s football match between Goa University and Goa XI will be played on Saturday at 6 p.m, at Duler ground, Mapusa. The felicitation function will be presided by Churchill Alemao, GFA president.
