PANJIM: Michael Lobo, MLA Calangute Constituency inaugurated the fifth Associate Football Centre of Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) at Parra. The centre will be managed by FC Goa under the chairmanship of Felix D’Souza. Around 53 under-12 kids have already enrolled that will be trained by two GFDC coaches.
Dr Rufino Monteiro, speaking on the occasion, informed that Parra has produced a lot of football talents in the past and those with promising talent may get a chance to represent host India in the Under-17 World Cup in 2017, which GFDC has been working on.
Member Secretary Elvis Gomes advised the trainees to focus on the coming World Cup in Brazil and stressed that their aim should be to play in the World Cup.
Chief Guest Michael Lobo assured all help.
Delilah Lobo, sarpanch of Parra VP, GFDC member Stanislaus D’Souza, Goa coach Vishwas Gaonkar and Churchill FC player Denzil Franco were also present.
