PANJIM: Hosts Gloria Sports Club piped St Khuris Boys, Raia 1-0 in the final of 36th Gloria inter-ward football tournament, at Gloria ground, Ilhas de Rachol, recently.
The all-important goal came through the boots of Ryson Antao in the 15th minute.
Abel Fernandes and Wilfred Gomes played well in search of the equalizer but goalkeeper Trilho Dias of Gloria Sports Club made some excellent saves.
MLA Avertano Furtado was the chief guest and awarded the prizes to Best Goalkeeper Trilho Dias, Best Striker Velhon Antao, Man-of-the-match Abel Fernandes (St Khuris), Best Defender Larson Cardozo and Best Goalkeeper of the tournament Jhonnyton Tavares of Gloria Sports Club.
Sathe Vijay (BJP block President, South Goa), Nicholas Fernandes (footballer and coach), Anthony D’Silva, Xavier Tavares, Roque Carneiro, Andrew Ferrao and Orlando Cardozo were also present among other dignitaries.
