The teams were locked 2-2 at half time.
The hero of the match was striker Gourav Mukhi, who scored five goals fro the away team.
Jharkhand opened the floodgates in the 10th minute when in-form striker Gourav Mukhi flicked the ball over advancing Goa goalkeeper Akshat Hadkonkar.
Goa could have fetched the equalizer but skipper Boris De Mello’s rasping shot miss the target narrowly.
Jharkhand extended the lead in the 32nd minute when after Gourav punished the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish off a well taken flag-kick by Hardeep Singh.
Goa regrouped quickly. Thanks to Jharkhand goalkeeper Sayad Bin Abdul Kadir’s lapses which saw Arron Baretto pounce on a deflection to reduce the deficit.
The reducer boosted the morale of Goa and they restored parity through Boris before the lemon break.
Post resumption, Jharkhand demolished their opponents. Midfielder Chotu Tireky added his name on the scorer list in the 47th minute and Gourav completed his hat-trick, two minutes later. Gourav another goal in the 53rd minute and increased the tally in the 65th minute.
Goa made some concentrated efforts and in the 73rd minute, Arron Alvares made it 6-3 after nodding in Boris’ rebound which came off the upright.
Unfazed, Jharkhand took control over and in the 80th minute, Vikas Balmuchu nodded home and Ashish Mukhi converted a spot-kick in the dying minutes.
Earlier, Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado along with AIFF Secretary Khushal Das, Assistant Secretary Anil Kamat (Compettions) were introduced to the teams by GFA President, Elvis Gomes.
Later, Avertano Furtado along with Kapil Channa, General Manager of Coca Cola, MLA Benjamin Silva, MLA Caitu Silva and Chief Secretary Naval Sharma distributed the medals and trophies to the teams in the presence of Benaulim Sarpanch Remmy Fernandes and GFA Executive members.
Jharkhand coach P Nath was elated with the fantastic win and margin of victory. “I am very happy with the performance of my boys throughout the tournament and most importantly defeating host Goa in the final,” P Nath told Herald after the final.
Goa coach Remy Colaco credited their rivals for the good football but failed to comprehend what went wrong with his team. “Our goalkeeper conceded silly goals and early goals in the second sessions. Our plans did not work and somehow, our players failed to click today,” said a dejected Colaco.
