PANJIM: The Goa A and Goa B teams put up a brave fight before going down to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in their respective semi-final matches, at the 35th National Games, in Kerala, on Wednesday.
In the first match, Goa A team duo of Pralhad Dhawaskar and brother Rama Dhawakar fought a brave battle against Andhra Pradesh’s Ramakrishnam Raju Madunuri and Naresh T but went down in two straight sets 21-17 and 21-19.
What followed was another impressive performance by the Goa B team of Anil Shirodkar and Aaron Pereira as they were engaged in a three-set competition with Telangana’s India international’s Ravi and Chetan.
Telangana clinched the first set 21-18 but Goa crawled back in the second set with a score that read 21-18. However, Goa bowed down in the third set 15-9.
Goa is assured of a bronze medal as Goa A face Goa B in the third place match, on Thursday, at 4.30 p.m
