AGENCIES, KOLHAPUR: Goa suffered a 0-4 loss against Manipur in the All India Football Federation Hero Junior Girls National Football Championship held at Kolhapur, on Monday.
After managing to hold their opponents for half-hour mark, Goa conceded when Manipur striker saw Goa goalkeeper Mamta leaving her goal and smartly lobbing the ball to take 1-0 lead.
Goa soon conceded a penalty to when Sujatha accidently handled the ball in the box and the referee pointed straight to the spot. Manipur player coolly converted from the spot.
In the second half, Manipur scored two more goals in the second half.
“Our girls played well and they weren’t an easy side. They had few national players and keeping that in mind, it was a decent performance from our girls,” said Goa coach Carol Fernandes.
Goa play their final group fixture against Uttarakhand on April 24.
