AGENCIES, DHARAMSALA: Goa Sub Junior Boys got off to a good start in their opening league round match at the UTT 81st Cadet & Sub-Junior National & Inter-State Table Tennis Championships-2019, at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.
The team comprising of Anshuman Agarwal, Nagesh Verenker, Shantesh Mapsekar and Aaron Colaco registered a commanding 3–0 win over Telengana.
In the girls section, both the Goa Girls teams had a good day, winning their opening league round matches.
Cadet Girls team breezed past Jharkhand 3-0 while in Sub Junior Girls, Goa edged past Rajasthan 3-2.
Trisha Verlekar, Leoma Fernandes, Galya Fernandes and Ruchi Kirtani are part of the Cadet Girls team while the Goa Sub Junior Team features Trisha Verlekar, Najida Sheikh, Leoma Fernandes and Sneha Mesta.
The Cadet Boys team having in its ranks Aaron Farias, Khushal Naik, Akshan Lawande and Fynn Gonsalves however lost to West Bengal 3-0, but a have a chance to make amends in their next two league round matches.
Two teams from each group qualify to the second stage.
