SANGOLDA: Goa Police Sports Club scored a fluent 3-0 win over Holy Cross Sports Club Arambol in the GFA’s First Division League match played at Sangolda ground, on Saturday.
In their first leg encounter Goa Police had won by 5-3 margin.
Goa Police got into the scoring act in the 12th minute of play when Milind Shinde sent a cross towards Sachin Chopdekar who nodded the ball home, 1-0.
Five minutes later Arambol could have restored parity however Dalesh saw his shot sail past the Goa Police goal from outside the 18-yard box.
In the next minute Milind Shinde set the ball on platter to Vineet Bugde whose effort went just over the Arambol’s horizontal bar.
Changing ends, Goa Police doubled their lead in the 58th minute of play when Vineet sent a perfect pass to Nevile Soares who after covering some ground flicked it over to Milind Shinde who finished clinically to make it 2-0.
Goa Police came close to scoring twice however Sachin Chopdekar was thwarted by Arambol keeper Kewan DSouza. Minutes later Vineet’s long range effort banged Arambol’s woodwork.
In the injury minutes Loyed Rebello netted in the third goal for Goa Police, scoring from close range, 3-0.
Despite being a First Division match there were no ball boys. It was the fourth official, match commissioner who had to perform the role of ball boys, fetching the ball from outside the field.
Also due to the absence of stretcher facilities, it was the players of the playing teams who were seen helping their injured teammates get off the field.
With no local organiser present for the match there was no proper sitting arrangement for the press neither was the team line up provided.
