CUNCOLIM: Goa Police SC and ICSC Paroda played a goalless draw in the GFA 1st division football match, at Cuncolim ground on Sunday.
Both the teams displayed beautiful football however the strikers lacked shapness and couldn’t score the chances created. Goa Police had the first shy at the goal in the 12th minute through striker Vineet Bugde however his shot missed the target by inches.
At the other end, Paroda’s striker Eloy Soares failed to beat the rival goalkeeper Niklesh Naik in a one on one situation after Godfrey Silva served the ball to the former on a platter.
Later, Goa Police’ Vineet Bugde missed yet another chance in the 27th minute as winger Abdul Khan sent a dipping cross however Bugde couldn’t fins the net.
Goa Police almost broke the deadlock but Paroda goalkeeper Presely Mascarenhas came to his side rescue by thwarting away Sawanand Naik power packed shot.
Post resumption, Goa Police had the lion share of possession and innumerable attempts at the goal but they have themselves to blame for splitting points. In an attempt, captain Milind Shinde broke free from the right flanks to score but Nevil Soares failed to beat the rival goalkeeper.
Punaji Kalangutkar of Goa Police and Godfrey Silva of ICSC were sent off by the referee David Rebello for retaliating each other in the 65th minute.
Goa Police had a chance to score in the 70th minute but their wasteful striker Vineet Bugde with only the goalkeeper to beat couldn’t find the nets yet again as the match ended in a goalless draw.
Earlier a one minute silence was observed in memory of Braz Rodrigues former referee and match commissioner.
