Goa Police lift Jetty cricket trophy

PANJIM: Goa Police defeated Ghumteshwar Warriors by 10 runs to clinch the 13th All-Goa Jetty Trophy T20 Cricket tournament, organized by Jetty Cricket Club, at MPT ground, Vasco, recently.

Batting first, Goa Police scored 162 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Vinod Wilson was the top scorer with 38 runs of 25 balls, Swapnil Malik 30 (28), Chandrakant Ghadi 27(24), Sachin Raut 10 were the other contributors.
For Ghumteshwar, Sagar Gosavi and Sachin Naik claimed three wickets each by conceding 22 runs, while Muktiar Kadri bagged one wicket.
In reply, Ghumteshwar Warriors efforts fell short by 10 runs as they were bowled out at 152 runs in 20 overs. 
Rajesh Vaigankar scored 44 runs, Bharat Arkas 28, Muktiar Kadri 20, Sagar Gosavi 12. Thango Naik of Goa Police captured three wickets conceding 21 runs, Rupesh Azgaonkar 2/29, Vinod Wilson 2/31, Dhondu Tulaskar 2/41, Abhijeet Talekar 1/24.
Goa Police were awarded Rs 50,000 and a trophy while Ghumteshwar Warriors had to be content with Rs 30,000 and a trophy.
Individual prizes were awarded to the following players. Man-of-the-match: Vinod Wilson (Goa Police). Best batsman: Swapnil Malik (Goa Police). Best bowler: Budhadev Mangaldas (Karimabad CC). Player of the tournament: Sachin Naik (Ghumteshwar Warriors).
The prizes were awarded by chief guest and Minister for Power, Milind Naik in the presence of guest of honour Jamir Carol, Joint Secretary of Goa Cricket Association.
Also present were Francis Fernandes, Gajanan Mahale and Subhash Salgaonkar, all officials of Jetty Cricket Club.
