Goa Police storm into semis

RAIA: Goa Police defeated Pondicherry Police in the semifinals of all-India Inter-State Police 7.20 leather ball cricket tournament organised by Gujarat Police at Vadodara Gujarat.

Pondicherry Police batted first setting a total of 144 for 8 in the allocated 20 overs. Selvan (46) and M Prabhu (38) were the top batters for Pondicherry while Shahadev Kandolkar 2/18 and Sanjay Naik 2/39 were the pick of the bowlers for Goa.

Goa Police chased the score quite comfortably making 145/3 in 16.3 overs. Pravin Rane 68 (40) and Chandrakant Ghadi 39* (35) were the top batters for Goa while Ramesh, Vijay, Bhupathi took a wicket each for Pondicherry.

A total of eight teams were invited to participate in the tournament, which were divided into two groups. Goa Police cricket team were placed in Group B along with Central Intelligence Bureau Delhi, Gujarat Police Team B and Daman and Diu. 

Earlier in the first tie, Goa Police defeated CIB Delhi by 6 wickets. CIB batted first and were all out for 78 runs while Goa Police chased the score in 11.4 overs. Aniket Parab of Goa Police was adjudged man-of-the-match.

In the second match, Goa Police defeated Gujarat Team B by chasing 103 runs in 19.4 overs. Goa Police in their last league tie defeated Daman and Diu by chasing 153 runs in 18.4 overs and losing 3 wickets and with 3 wins topped the group B.
