Goa were pipped to the second place for the Fair Play Trophy by Maharashtra in the All India Football Federation Under-13 football festival played at Jamshedpur.
Goa accumulated 60 points, while Maharashtra has 65.
Goa who won the trophy last year when the tournament was held in Goa, were tied until the last match of the day, when Maharashtra got a Green Card which fetched them 5 points.
Goa trounced Karnataka 6-0, overwhelmed Gujarat 4-1, beat Uttar Pradesh 3-1, drew with Punjab and Maharashtra 1-1, and lost just one match with Manipur.
Myron Mendes and Joel Fernandes were outstanding for the Goan team, which was coached by Shekhar Kerkar and Paul Bast.
The Girls Under-14 team also emerged as runners-up at the festival held recently at Chennai.
