MARGAO: The Goa Swimming Association felicitated swimmers under The State Sports Policy and the State Cultural Policy which entitled students to get grace marks for their active participation in sports, in Margao, recently.
Speaking at the felicitation ceremony, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said, “The swimmers and divers have performed extra- ordinarily well in the last few years and have brought honour to the State of Goa. They have performed with their own efforts, guidance from the coaches and encouragement from their parents and have various medals. I am confident that their hard work and consistency in performance can ensure that Goa wins medals in the forthcoming National Games and India winning medals at the next Olympics.”
Executive Director of Sports Authority of Goa VM Prabhudessai, Ex-President of Goa Swimming Association Anil Madgaonkar, General Secretary Sudesh Nagvekar, Tresurer Mangesh Prabhugaonkar, and Ex- General Secretary Abdul Majid Sayed were on the dais.
Executive Director of SAG V. M. Prabhudessai in his speech complimented all the swimmers, divers and coaches as well as the parents for their extraordinary performance. Speaking on the occasion, Anil Madgaonkar advised the swimmers to put in best efforts which will help in getting positive results. He said that regular practice is important to enhance your performance in swimming.
The medal winners in various swimming and diving competitions as well as their coaches were felicitated at the hands of dignitaries.
Ex-Chairperson of Margao & Councillor Doris Texeira, Manoj Masurkar, Avinash Shirodkar, Damodar Naik, Former Councillors Damodar Shirodkar and Laxmikant Kamat and other dignitaries were also present.
