PANJIM: Friday is the last day to register for Sunday’s Goa Trail Run. It’s a run with a difference. Organised by Adventure Breaks, the Goa Trail Run will start at 7 a.m on September 9.
It is completely off the road. Instead, participants will be running through dense forests, dirt trails and pristine grasslands dotted with thousands of tiny, colourful wild flowers. They will see nature at its finest, and hear calls of peacocks and cries of lapwings as they race to the finish.
Surprisingly, the State’s first-of-its-kind trail run is not deep in the State’s interiors. Rather, it is on the Socorro Plateau in Porvorim, an unspoiled wonderland in the very middle of Goa’s fastest-growing urban agglomeration.
There are two distances — 7.5K (one loop of 7.5km) or 15K (two loops of 7.5km). Participants can run, walk, or even amble along, stopping to smell the thousands of wild flowers along the route; they have a full three hours to complete the distance. Reporting time is at 7 a.m on Sunday 9, at the cricket ground on the Socorro Plateau.
There are two categories — Open and Student — with medals for the first three men and women in each category, for the 7.5K and 15K races. All participants get Finisher Medals and certificates. Online registration is open till midnight on Friday, September 7.
Spot registration will be allowed between 7 a.m and 7.45 a.m at the venue on Sunday, subject to availability of bibs. Those who wish to register can go to the Adventure Breaks website — http://adventurebreaks.in.
