Goa claimed four gold medals in the opening day of the 2nd West Zone Taekwondo Championship organised by Goa Taekwondo Association at SAG multipurpose hall, Fatorda, on Friday.
Goa’s Sakshi Hangargekar bagged the gold medal in sub -junior girls bantam 20 -22kg category. Her colleague, Sarvadhnnya Patil claimed the silver while Neelufer Gour and Anju Babby both from Daman shared the bronze medals.
In the fin weight 16 -18 kg, Siddhi Kedari of Maharashtra claimed the gold while Kritika Bhote of Madhya Pradesh won the silver. Salome Pereira and Diya Sirobhushanam, both from Goa had to settle for the bronze.
Garima Soni of Madhya Pradesh grabbed the gold in the welter 26 – 29kg category. Goa’s Siya Malekar had to settle for the silver while Saie Hangargekar of Goa and Neha Par of Daman bagged the bronze medals.
Amesha Dubey of Chattisgarh overcome Asma Menon 12-10 points to claim the gold while Asma Memon of Goa secured the silver while Rasilia Mascarenhas of Goa and Krutana Sharma of Madhya Pradesh clinched the bronze medals.
Ashish Kumar bagged the gold in sub-junior boys’ 32 – 35 kg category. Shubham Gaikwad of Maharashtra hogged the limelight claiming the silver while Padam Newpane and Deva Ganesh Nair claimed the bronze medals.
Karthik Rojde of Madhya Pradesh won the gold medal in welter category while Deepak Singh of Goa secured silver. Goa’s Mark D’Costa alongwith Hetur Vaibshinav of Chattisgarh settled for the bronze.
Goa’s Shivnath Chavan won the gold in fin weight category while Nithish Kamath bagged the silver.
Kanniva Khatavkar of Goa finished ahead of Abhishek Yadav of Madhya Pradesh to clinch the gold in feather weight category. The silver went to Abhishek while Goa’s Savio D’Costa bagged the bronze medal alongwith Yash Singh Parihar of Chattisgarh.
