PANJIM: Goan Football Club scored a thumping 8-0 win over Churchill Brothers SC in the Goa Football Association U-20 Taca Goa Division One League match played at Dramapur ground, on Friday.
Ivon Costa impressed for the Gaurs as he scored two goals.
Vincy Barretto scored the first for the Gaurs in the sixth minute to give a perfect start for Goan FC.
Both the teams restricted their game plan to midfield battle but Churchill Brothers weren’t a threat to their opponents and as such they punished with the second as Goan FC doubled the account in the 23rd minute through Bryce Miranda.
Soon it was one-way traffic as the Gaurs scored the third at the half hour mark through Sarineo Fernandes. Iva on scored two just before the breather and Doyal Alves also scored to make it 6-0 at the break.
In the second half, there was no change in the script as Goan FC dominated the game pushing Churchill Brothers on the back foot.
The Gaurs ended the match 8-0 thanks to two more goals from Lesly Rebello and Lincoln Colaco.
Meanwhile, Velsao Sports and Cultural Club suffered their first defeat in the league following their narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Salgaocar Football Club at Cansaulim ground.
Velsao were enjoying their dream run in the league as they beat powerhouse Goan FC and Churchill Brothers SC but despite playing their hearts out they fell short against Salgaocar FC as they were upset by a Steflon D’Costa’s 31st minute strike which inflicted first defeat upon them.
