While Goan Warriors thumped Xetrapal Sports Club 6-2, a strong second-half performance helped Bidesh XI Assonora come from behind to down Chapora Yuvak Sangh 5-3 at Poriat ground.
In a keen tussle Xetrapal started the match brightly and were leading 1-0 at half time through Sonu Mandrekar whose long ranger nestled into the net.
Ashitosh Gadekar was outstanding under the bar for Xetrapal denying Craig Menezes and Faizal Shaikh from finding the equaliser but once he exited in the 64th minute to an injury the team crumbled and conceded six goals.
Rohan Kamble made it 1-1 with a clever dink over the injured Xetrapal keeper after Craig Menezes shot hit the post and came into his path.
Warriors consolidated their lead through Videsh Sawal ten minutes later and from then on it was one way traffic, also the red card to Xetrapal`s Satish Shirodakar in the 77th minute made their task even harder in getting back into the match.
Rohan Kamble got his second goal in the 78th min while Chetan Shirodkar also got two goals in the 81st & 94th minute to take the score to 5-1.
However Xetrapal managed to reduce the margin through substitute Sarvesh Garval`s deft placement but Faizal Shaikh made it 6-2 for Goan Warriors to end a disappointing day for the Xetrapal lads
At Calangute, Chapora Yuvak Sangh dominated the early moments of the game and soon took the lead in the 11th minute through Pavan Dhargalkar. Chapora’s quick passing game didn’t allow Bidesh XI to set in the game as they doubled the account in the 20th minute through Soham Govekar.
Bidesh XI kept their tempo high as they created numerous chances and successfully managed to pull one back just before the breather through Chandan Govenkar. Crossing over, Chapora scored their third through Pundalik Madgaonkar in the 48th minute.
