Goan Warriors FC pip Cunchelim FC

Sirsaim Sports and Welfare Centre hold St Augustias SC 1-1 at Nachinola ground; Candolim SC humble UC Nerul 12-0 at Candolim ground

MAPUSA: Goan Warriors Football Club did enough as they got the better of Cunchelim Football Club 2-1 in GFA’s Third Division League football match (Bardez zone), at Duler Stadium, here, on Sunday.
Goan Warriors FC led at half time with a goal in the ninth minute by Tukaram Parob’s rasping drive. 
Cunchelim FC could have leveled in the 32nd minute but Omkar Sawant lacked finishing from hand-shaking distance. 
Post resumption, Goa Warriors FC doubled their lead through Mableshwar Harijan’s header off a cross by Manjunath.
In the 69th minute, Omkar Sawant reduced the margin for Cunchelim FC through a penalty but Goan Warriors FC defended bravely in the final quarter to protect their slender lead. 
At Nachinola ground, Sirsaim Sports and Welfare Centre and St Augustias Sports Club, Pomburpa played out a 1-1 draw. St Augustias SC led 1-0 at half time.
Alwyn Mendes put St Augustias SC ahead in the 23rd minute with a venomous long ranger but Sirsaim Sports and Welfare Centre equalized in the 74th minute through Junior Rodrigues to settle for a point.
In another match, Candolim Sports Club hammered United Club of Nerul 12-0, at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim.
