PANJIM: The Sports Authority of Goa discussed 32 disciplines for National Games to be held in the State from November 4 to 17, 2018 during their Annual General Meeting held at Ministers Secretariat, Porvorim, on Friday.
The SAG resolved to include Sepak Takraw and Triathlon in the 32 discipline sport for National games wherein a total budget of Rs 230 Cr has been approved for infrastructure and development, which also includes the accommodation of athletes and officials.
SAG also decided to have a committee under Chief Minister, Sports Minister, SAG Executive Director to finalise modalities of classification of sports for grants allocation, manpower utilisation.
The AGM also resolved a major decision to clear the backlog of Jivabadada Kerkar awards from 2002-2013 for sportspersons and 1999-2014 for sports organizers, wherein 30 awardees will be presented on December 18.
It was also a great relief for the sports students as it has been decided that the sports merit marks will be included in percentage when a student is failing or when a student is falling short of cut-off to meet an admission to general college, polytechnics, etc.
With the U-17 World Cup coming to an end, SAG has decided upon honorarium of staff at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for assisting in conduct of the footballing event at Fatorda.
The State teams will get the benefit of flight travel for their national participation in NorthEast.
Good news came to the workers at SAG, as the body has decided to regularise the daily wage employees who have completed five years.
While the Campal swimming pool, machinery, plumbing, electrical have been discussed to be revamped, the decision on the status of the proposed velodrome at Fatorda is in abeyance.
SAG also discussed to set up coaching centres for sport of chess and also to release the backlog of award money which has to be release with special provision through sports department.
