PANJIM: Gopal Kunkalkar from Chimbel won the bronze in doubles of para badminton national championship in Bangalore partnering Rakesh Kumar of Bihar.
They lost the semi-final to Satyajit and Dhiraj Singh of Punjab 18-21, 21-15, 21-23. Before reaching the semi-final they won four rounds. Gopal had also played in the singles but lost in the quarter-final.
Along with Gopal, Vikas Sonar also represented Goa at the Nationals. Both have been selected for the super six for Nalco Championship to be held in Orissa from February 12 to 15.
Mr. Gopal is working in a private hotel in Panaji. More than 300 players were participated in the tournament. President Mr. Vishram Naik & Secretary Mr. Sudesh Thakur of Goa Paralympic Association congratulated both the players.
